Your questions answered by our Cheshunt and Enfield dental team.
In our next few blogs, we will be taking a look at some of the questions that have been asked by our patients from the Cheshunt and Enfield area.
Whilst some questions have been quite specific to that particular individual, the ones that we have chosen are likely to help other patients in a similar situation as well.
Q – I am getting married later in the year and want to look my best for the big day. I am planning on having my teeth whitened and know that can be done quite quickly. I am also concerned about my crooked teeth though and have been told that dental braces can take a year or more to work. Is this correct and are there any alternative ways to straighten teeth?
First of all, congratulations on your forthcoming marriage and we hope that you have a great day. For our part, at The Lodge Dental Suite in Hertfordshire, we should be able to help you with your problem, although we would certainly need to examine your teeth before giving you a definitive answer.
As you say, a teeth whitening procedure can be completed in either one hour should you chose to have it done within our practice, or approximately two weeks should you prefer to use our home whitening kit.
Regarding your crooked teeth, it seems likely, from your question, that you want your teeth straightened for cosmetic purposes, for the big day. This certainly makes a teeth straightening procedure more straightforward and faster. Rear teeth can take much longer to re-position, up to a year or more. For cosmetic teeth straightening though, the process can be surprisingly fast. As previously stated, we would need to examine you before recommending a system to use, but, essentially there are two likely methods which might be ideal for your situation, and these are as follows:
Six Month Smile
As the name suggests, this treatment takes approximately six months. Don’t despair though if your wedding is closer, as this figure is an average and if your teeth are not too badly crooked or uneven, it is quite possible that less time will be needed to correct their position.
The Inman Aligner can work remarkably quickly, straightening teeth in as little as four weeks and usually no more than sixteen weeks. This may be ideally suited for your needs providing that your correction issue is not too severe. You will need to revisit us approximately every fortnight during the treatment period to review their progress.
Without inspecting your teeth, we are not able to recommend one or the other of these teeth straightening systems, but, from your question, is does seem highly likely that one of these two methods will enable you to have great looking teeth for your wedding day.
As time is of the essence, we would recommend that you make your appointment with us as soon as possible so that treatment can start quickly, and you can contact us by calling The Lodge Dental Suite on 01992 643 388
